NHS Health Checks - Support for Professionals

GP Practices:

It is important for GP practices to engage with the NHS Health Checks programme. We know that it’s been difficult throughout the pandemic to fit appointments in, which is why we have a dedicated NHS Health Checks Engagement Officer to support your individual practices in completing NHS health checks.

Why is it important for GP's to engage with the health checks programme?

  • Practices receive £35 per health check conducted, to be paid on a quarterly basis
  • NHS health checks can pick up underlying health conditions in your patients
  • Early detection can help GP’s save time on future appointments
  • The risk of an individual being affected by underlying conditions can vary depending on their ethnicity, making it important to try get as many minority groups engaged with the programme as possible.

How Can We Support GP Practices?

  • We can organise a telephone campaign with our staff for individuals who need to be invited and those who did not attend
  • Signpost to Behaviour Change Training
  • Crib sheet for admin staff to outline the NHS Health Check Process
  • We provide you with surveys to get feedback from your patients about the health check service
  • Point of care testing machines
  • £35 per health check conducted
